Mothers Day training for sabots

After making their mothers breakfast in bed a fleet of Sabot sailors arrived at the Royal Yacht Club of Tasmania for the second round of winter training.

Training for the 22 sabots again was a picture perfect. For those that think its cold here in Tasmania, take a look at the pictures and think again.

Each training session works on new skills. Sunday’s session was a mixture of boat handling drills as well as down wind steering/balance and trim technique. With 23 boats lining up for a “rabbit start” the saying of the day was “you snooze you loose”.

Many of the sabot sailors are now sailing laser 4.7s and 420s as well as their sabot. The reason for this is there is a need to make the transition from the training classes sooner and to make the jump not so big and daunting.

With our support and by having our own fleet of 420's it allows sailors to continue their sailing development without the initial financial burden that normal happens when sailors need to take the next step into youth classes.
