Tasmanian Laser sailors from Dinghy Group are showing good form in first two races of the 2009 2009 Queensland Youth Week incorporating the Australian Midwinter Youth Championships.
In the radial section 4 sailors rounded the top mark of race 1 in 1st, 2nd, 3rd, and 5th indicating the fruits of their intensive training program are paying dividends.
George Jones finished 1st and 3rd with a protest pending, Elliot Noye recorded a 2nd and a 5th, Rohan Langford has a 7th and an 8th and Zac Pullen came 13th in the first race and DNF in the second.
Hugh Jones is the only 4.7 entrant from Tas in his first laser regatta. He has not had great start with the fresh winds and a mast that found the mud a bit sticky but a forecast of softer winds over the next two days will be in his favour.
