2009 Dinghy Group Series Results Races 1 to 6

With 6 races of the 10 race series complete, the results to date have now been published.  As you will see from the tables below, not only are a lot of the series very close, but some have been turned on their head.

In the senior Sabots, KBSC's Finnian Rees, a recent joiner to the class, is leading a tight pack with Dinghy Groups Edmund Hargreaves a point behind and Sandrs Price a further 7 away.  The very light conditions have clearly handicapped the older, more experienced and heavy sailors but take nothing away from the leaders of the 18 boat fleet, the results tell no lies and they have sailed to the conditions very well.

In the Intermediate Sabot's, Angus Calvert and Morgan Davies jointly lead by 2 points over Liam Virtue and Lachlan Hargreaves, with Lachlan Virtue, Isabel Goodfellow and Emma Warn all staying in touch.

SBSC's Opti's of Michael and Christopher Boult have swapped pole position equally so this class is on for the winning.

In the 420's, the new team of Seb Spinks and Henry Goodfellow are working well leading the boats helmed by Doug Shepherd and Silka Price.  I believe that this is going to be a very interesting and exciting class to watch this summer and with new boats arriving, it can only be good news for the class and sport as a whole.

The Lasers are another group exploding in numbers locally and the 4.7's are lead by Hugh Jones who has a good lead over Oisin Asmal, with Zac Petterd and Caitlyn Eggins biting at their heels.  Ahead in the Radial's is Rohan Langford with good lead over George Jones, Zac Pullen, Elliot Noye and Angus Barton - another group of competitive sailors that ooze talent.

We have had a good group of B14's this winter with 6 of them in the series and it is great to see these 'older sailors' out on the water in testing conditions (i.e. testing their patience!).  Hopefully we will have a bit more wind in the coming races and we can see whether Ross Daley and Ben Zalmetra can catch John Tanton.

Finally, in the most one sided series of the lot, Jack McCullum is clearly a ahead in the Windsurfer 1 Design series :-)
