Saturday saw the 2009 season start in near perfect conditions with clear skies in the morning, and a light sea breeze in the afternoon. The season was officially opened at 10 am by Commodore Simpson from the RYCT and Greg Ford on behalf of Commodore Geeves of the DSS.
It was discivered at some point in the day that our opening of the season in the newly renovated facilities coincided with exactly 50 years to the day of the official opening of the Cadet Dinghy Sheds by G.H. Evans in 1959. If that wasnt enough cause to celebrate, the enthusiasm of everyone on the day most certainly was.
A busy registration process was followed by the official opening and a short sailpast the new facilites before the sailors all headed out to the class training. Sailors returned to a BBQ lunch, a short break, and then it was back out for afternoon racing in a light 10-12 knot sea breeze. Photos of the day are now available - results will be published soon.
