Racing Events

The Dinghy Group have combined efforts with the Sandy Bay Sailing Club to conduct racing for all classes each weekend of the sailing season. The format of the racing varies according to the event. Most weekend sailors are competing for the prestige of a club pennant. There are a number of major regattas such as The Showdown and the Crown Series regattas asrs well as trophy races and class regattas.

The Sailing Instructions for the 2010/2011 sailing season are available online and the cost of particiapation in the races is covered in your Dinghy Group registration fee.

Racing is typically held on two courses - Alpha and Bravo. Our junior and intermediate sailors on Bravo compete in Sabots, Optimist and Laser 4.7 classes. On the Alpha course sailors compete in Laser 4.7, Radial and full rigs, 420's, with the Windsurfers, Lightweight Sharpies and Moth foilers competing more regularly again.

Registration

All sailors must register with Dinghy Group to be eligible to race and receive coaching in the morning. If you are racing only you must still register with Dinghy Group however a reduced fee can apply if you are not doing all three pennants. Registration is online here.
